Hippo explores the coming of age of two siblings: Hippo, a teenage boy addicted to video games, and Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant who loves classical music and Jesus. Like the ancient Greek Aphrodite, Buttercup’s love is not found with a brother who would rather indulge in the art of war and mayhem. The result is a hormone-fueled tragicomic waking nightmare that has to be seen to be believed.
